Inside by Wingårdhs were assigned to design what was originally a storage space in a modernistic 1930s residential building. The concept is based around the original character of the space, keeping the essence of its simplistic industrial elements, combined with details reflecting both companies. The idea of the design is also to enhance the dramaturgy of the volume, moving from a darker, intimate entrance to an open and lighter space.
A major challenge was to create a showroom that has character, and yet works as a timeless palette to elevate the ever changing product exhibitions for years to come. This year’s exhibition suitably had its roots in the modernistic era, contemporary interpretations of the primary colors red, blue and yellow coloring all exhibited products.
In November 2017 SEB’s office building won the prize “Sweden’s best looking office” – a competition held by Fastighetssverige and Lokalnytt.
On Niels Brocks Gade 1 in Copenhagen stands a building that has drawn the attention of admiring gazes for generations. The magnificent original building was designed in 1903 for an insurance company, and was later home to the Royal Danish Academy of Music. After the building had been vacant for an extended period, the Nobis Hotel Copenhagen has now moved in.
Greta Garbo came first, and then Ingrid Bergman. Both were often seen at the Strand Hotel. The building was designed in preparation for the 1912 Olympic Games, when the city would become international, teeming with people from around the world. Ever since it has been an attractive address, with its glittering waterfront and magnificent view. In the 1980s it was The Hotel in town, and the line to get in wound along the Nybrokajen esplanade.
Tak – a series of tables designed by Wingårdhs for the restaurant Tak in downtown Stockholm. We created the peice of furniture we pursued; straightforward and functional.

When Emporia shopping centre in Malmö opened in November 2012, 80 000 visitors came on the opening day and 500 000 in the first week. The population of Malmö is just over 400 000.
Aula Medica is an extraordinary building. To create an interior concept to match that was a challenge. Wingårdhs were assigned by Karolinska Institutet to do the interior design of the public spaces.
Quality Hotel Friends is Quality hotels Swedish flagship hotel. It is the place to use for the big and complex events with room for 65 000 participants. It is situated next to the Swedish National Arena and neighbour with the shopping centre Mall of Scandinavia.
In 1983 Gert Wingårdh finished one of his first store designs. Shoe store Yoko Yap is based on the idea of open versus closed and plays with light, reflections and materials.
